Halcyon Compact 49 Goggle in Tan Leather - Front

This slimmer cousin of the Mark 49 was designed for compatibility with modern open-face helmets. The Compact 49 is at the top of the Halcyon line of goggles, utilizing the highest quality components throughout. The solid brass frame is polished to a flawless finish before receiving it's real chrome-plated finish. The soft face mask is made of genuine leather and is hand-stitched to the frame. The stainless-steel nose bridge screw is knurled to allow for easy horizontal fit/spacing adjustment.

Your choice of optical-quality Polycarbonate lenses in Clear or Smoke, or Laminated Glass lenses for ultimate clarity. All Halcyon lenses are treated with a scratch-resistant coating, keeping your line of sight crystal clear over the long term. The goggle strap features triple silicon non-slip strips on the interior which gorilla grip your helmet and ensure these goggles stay put, even at speed. Lenses are easily removable/swappable. Replacement lenses may be purchased separately in Clear Polycarbonate, Smoke Polycarbonate, and Laminated Glass.

Great for smaller faces, use with smaller 3/4 helmets, or for those who just prefer a more minimalist goggle. Handcrafted in Halcyon's UK factory, the Compact 49 is one of the finest aviator goggles money can buy!

Great compact googles for new slimmer 3/4 helmets

Posted by Clyde Chamberlin on 10th Oct 2016

I was not sure what to expect when I purchased these goggles but they are well made. My helmets are the new Bell custom 500, AFX-F76 Lines, Torc Route 66 and the Fly .38 helmets. These are all slimmer fitting style helmets. These compact goggles work well with this style helmet. And I'm not sure the regular 49 style will fit these helmets styles. Since these are my first pair of goggles I have had to get acquainted with there use and adjustment. I have had to screw the nose adjustment almost all the way together as I have a slim nose bridge and there is a little extra leather over the top of my nose then but I think I could place a little foam there to fill out the leather nose bridge and make the goggle rest on my nose better. The split lens doesn't bother me much at all and the most noticeable thing is you have to tip your head down slightly to view the speedometer. Also you have to get the strap position on the helmet so it doesn't pull the goggles down. I have Echo brand standard visors on the helmets and I can easily place the goggles up and over the visor without much trouble and the strap stays put though I would feel better if there were a retainer on the back of the helmets so I may see if I can install one without compromising the helmets construction. I have the smoked lens but I think the clear ones will be installed as I mainly use the goggles at night and use sunglasses during the day at this time. Also the Tan leather is not yellow like deer skin but a true light tan which looks great with the the chrome frames. I think I will get some in the brown / brass style next.
